DRIFT CREEK FALLS

Elevation Gain: 490 feet
Distance from Newport: 33.3 miles - 1 hr
This hike is great for pretty much everyone and boasts a beautiful waterfall, large suspension bridge, and a gorgeous view of the coast range forest.
Depoe Bay, OR

MIKE MILLER PARK

Distance: 1 mile
Distance from Newport: 3 miles - 10 minutes
This is a great wooded park with a well maintained nature trail.

CAPE PERPETUA TO DEVIL’S CHURN

Distance: 1.6 miles
Elevation Gain: 242 feet

Moderately trafficked loop trail located near Yachats, Oregon. Make sure to go at high tide so you can watch the waves come in and crash! One of our personal favorites.

804 TRAIL

Distance: 1.7 miles
Elevation Gain: 20 feet
Distance from Newport: 23.5 miles - 33 minutes
The tread is an ancient roadway, established by Native Americans and then used by horse and buggy traffic until the construction of Highway 101. Bird and sea life are abundant here, so keep your eyes open and take your time! You can also choose to add on to your hike if you desire, by taking slightly different routes.

SAINT PERPETUA & GIANT SPRUCE TRAIL

A moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Yachats, Oregon. Along the way you get beautiful ocean views, you get to see the giant spruce, and a rock shelter! We recommend going on a sunny day so that your views aren’t obscured by clouds!

NEAHKAHNIE MOUNTAIN

Located near Nehalem, Oregon that features beautiful wild flowers and gorgeous ocean views.

GOD’S THUMB

Distance from Newport: 28.5 miles - 50 minutes
Parking for this trail is located at the lot at Roads End State Recreation Site. There is no access via Logan Road without crossing into private property. Take in the spectacular views at the top of the Salmon River and Cascade Head.

CAPE LOOKOUT

Distance: 5 miles
Elevation Gain: 930 feet
Distance from Newport: 59 miles - 1 hour 25 minutes
This is one of the best places on the coast to watch for whales! As the migrating gray whales parallel the shoreline in fall and spring, they need to detour around this two-mile long peninsula, the remains of an ancient lava flow from the Columbia River Basalts of the Miocene epoch. Start is at the Cape Lookout Trailhead.

HARD

OREGON COAST TRAIL

Distance: 425 miles
This is a long-distance hiking route that goes along the Oregon Coast, starting at the Columbia River and finishing at the California border. It is a bit extreme to complete the entire thing, but you can always find a part of it to hike just for the day!
